UP AND DOWN FOR ITALY
as never before,
I managed to do it
going up and dow
The journey is an occasion to regenerate body and spirit. This year, as never before, I managed to do it going up and down for Italy. Polignano a Mare, Rome, Orvieto, Siena and San Gimignano are just a few of the cities that left me the sign. Every place gave me something, it sent me an emotion!Polignano a Mare is a coastal town in Puglia, located a few kilometers south of Bari, built on Polignano a Mare is a coastal town in Puglia, located a few kilometers south of Bari, built on rock peaking over the sea. Enchanting is its old town with alleys that are pure poetry. Rome, caput mundi, the capital of the world!
I think we needn’t say much about this city, I loved it from the first day I saw it. Rich in merits and defects, like any other city, it can catch you and not leave you more.
Orvieto, on the other hand, was a confirmation! I had many expectations and fortunately, all have been confirmed.
Magnificent is the well of Saint Patrick, a formidable engineering work that leaves everyone thrilled.
The Duomo is something unique, contains amazing works of art, such as the Luca Signorelli’s frescoes. Siena is a city that lives through its history and culture, the Palio every year attracts millions of visitors. I was very impressed with the sense of belonging that every citizen has towards his own district, I think is unique in the world.
Piazza del Campo, Duomo and Facciatone are three works to see absolutely. San Gimignano is the place that most impressed me! A real surprise, a medieval center in the heart of Tuscany, which for its beauty has been declared World Heritage by UNESCO. Famous are its medieval towers that are still high today, with the nickname of “Manhattan of the Middle Ages”.
In the beginning, the towers were 72, an expression of the force of the noble families. Today, there are only 16 of them, the tallest Torre Grossa, 54 meters.
